This season, function meets beauty in a feminine, sensual way in the By Malene Birger collection. The collection draws inspiration from the 50’s half calf lengths and strong leather jackets, combined with the simple comfortable look of the early 90’s. The collection is a tribute to a woman's need to dress up - and down - styling her look in different ways. Artistic yet sexy – a wardrobe that's easy to style and travel with.
The collection includes both strong linen suits and sophisticated dresses and, of course, sailor-inspired stripes. An important effect is the safari-inspired look on pockets and inside details. To spice up the look is leather pants combined with exclusive knitwear and 50’s inspired items such as studded vests and handcrafted ethnic accessories. Cool constructed tshirts in new qualities - both with and without prints. Season favorites are chinos inspired
from men’s wear, and ponchos worn like a blanket.
The details draw on safari and hunting clothes, in a chic new way. It is a tribute to craftsmanship
and the flawless fabrication of utility clothes. Practical details like inside pockets, and
cottons bands to use as braces, are significant to the new look. Throughout the collection,
the focus is on details like leather trimmings, mixing materials, baggy pockets and sophisticated
inside details. They are minimalistic and used to create personality.
The look is cleaned up – strong and powerful – using simple graphic prints with an artistic
handmade touch.
Ms. Birger has created hand-painted prints, and they are used throughout the collection,
mostly for t-shirts - especially the UNICEF t-shirt for kids and adults, showing her dedication
to UNICEF and children in need. A unique artwork is the no. 7 – a cycles symbolizing the company’s
7 years, Ms. Birger’s lucky number, and the 7 days in a week.
